A night in the Desert

Last night after we ran some errands we were on our way back to our house when I said, "I don't want to go home yet. Let's drive around!" DH and I used to drive around on Sundays (especially when we were house hunting) when we lived in Indiana. We'd always stop at the gas station and get a snack (usually a fountain pop and an ice cream snickers bar for each of us!) and then we'd just drive around for hours.

So last night we headed out of town just as the sun was setting behind the mountains. It was so pretty and peaceful. We ended up seeing a side road with about 15 real estate signs at the edge, so we turned back it to see what was back there. The road turned to sand (hey we're in the desert, remember?) and we were offroading in the mountaineer! DH was having a blast but after awhile the bumping around started to make me sick! Anyway, there were some beautiful homes back there and it was so secluded. The terrain was all sand and rock with cactuses everywhere. It's what I imagined Arizona to be like, as opposed to the suburbia of perfect homes we live in where we get a letter from the HOA about once a week for weeds in the yard. *rollseyes*

After we treked around there for a while, we headed back towards home. The whole time we had the windows down and the radio on. It was so relaxing! And it was nice to get out of the house and enjoy some time together, not worrying or discussing plans or finances or moving, just enjoying being together. We need more nights like that! And the best part...it was free!

It's good you didn't find anything back there in the dessert!! I think you need to look more north of where you are!! lol
